In
keeping with its goal of spreading the use of Information
and Communication Technologies (ICT's) in Pakistan in general
and remote areas in particular, SDNP conducted an Access
workshop in Killa Saifullah, Quetta on April 12th 2001,
in collaboration with the Water Environment & Sanitation
Society (WESS).
Eighty
participants from different walks of life participated in
the training workshop. They included NGO's, CBO's, teachers
and students. Mr. Jan Mohammad began by presenting an overview
of SDNP's activities. He then proceeded with an introduction
to the origin, structure, mechanics, and usage of Internet
and email. The participants enjoyed the hands-on session,
going through the various informative websites and mastering
the techniques of using search engines to download the maximum
information in the shortest possible time. Some examples
of e-commerce were also explained to them.
Mr.
Aslam from WESS thanked SDNP for its initiative, and hoped
that further such workshops would be conducted in Loralai,
Sibi & Khan Nawzai.
