for twenty participants from the faculty and students of
Govt Girls College Jinnah Town, Quetta on 27th April 2001
in their well-equipped computer laboratory.
An

capacity-building initiatives was presented by SDNP Quetta's
City Coordinator, Mr. Jan Mohammad. The participants were
then briefed about the basic usage, background, structure,
and mechanics of Internet and email by Ms. Zarin Syed.
They
took keen interest in the basics of the Internet's browsing
techniques and the logic behind online connectivity. During
the hands-on session, the participants were thrilled when
they visited various sites like Dawn, Jang, Allah.com, Gwadar's
and Balochistan's websites; jobs vacancies and learned how
to constructively channelize the potential of popular search
engines. The resource personnel then answered their queries.
The
Principal of the college thanked SDNP-IUCN for introducing
new computer technology to the participants. She also requested
SDNP to include two of their teachers in their basic web
authoring training in order to develop their own college's
website.
