Pakistan
Development Gateway (www.sdnpk.org), a website set up and
maintained by the Sustainable Development Networking Programme
(SDNP), a global programme of UNDP, managed by IUCN - The
World Conservation Union, in Pakistan, has been chosen as
an 'Open Directory Cool Site' http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Pakistan/Society_and_Culture/
The
Open Directory Project (ODP) is a global Web project, initiated
by Netscape to build the largest human edited directory
of the Web. Working on the motto, "Humans do it better",
it has been able to recruit a team of more than 37,000 editors
- nearly all volunteers, with each responsible for a particular
category - which has already indexed more than 2.6 million
websites.
ODP
honours the best websites with what they designate as the
'Cool Site' award. According to an ODP communication, not
only has the SDNP website been designated as a 'Cool Site',
it has been declared as the 'coolest site' in the 'Society
and Culture' category of Pakistani websites. Only three
other Pakistani websites, in a total of 1149 indexed by
ODP, have won this distinction.
