SDNP Lahore conducted a Web Authoring workshop from 11-13
June 2001, in collaboration with the Institute of Leadership
and Management (ILM). Seventeen participants from the following
organizations representing civil society, media and government
departments attended the event, which was the last in this
series:
1. Lahore Press Club
2. Institute of Physically Handicapped Children
3. Health Department Government of the Punjab
4. Movement for sustainable social autonomy & gender
equity
5. Centre For Health & Population Studies (CHPS)
6. UNDP-PLUS Gujranwala
7. Alternative Media Network
8. War Against Rape (WAR)
9. Pakistan Girl Guides Association
10. Sudhaar and Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust, Lahore.
This was a fairly interactive 3-day session enriched with
hands-on training, which resulted in sixteen websites developed
by the participants themselves. One noteworthy aspect of
this workshop was that some of them were fairly experienced
in the field of computer sciences but did not have an in-depth
exposure to the Web itself. The participants termed the
workshop a success and agreed to the vision of empowerment
through ICTs.
In the end, Mr. Nadeem Malik (CE, I-Vision software house)
gave away the certificates to the participants. He was impressed
by SDNP's vision of transferring computer-related knowledge
for indigenous purposes. He also admired the attitude that
the workshop was able to generate when he was shown the
new websites. SDNP Lahore's City Coordinator, Mr. Aman Azhar,
thanked everyone for their proactive involvement in the
workshop.
