SDNP's JMC website launched at Peshawar University's Media Research Training Center May 18, 2001

On 18th May, 2001 SDNP Peshawar played a pivotal role in establishing Peshawar University's Media Research Training Center (MRTC). The Governor of NWFP, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah inaugurated the MRTC, and also launched the website of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department.

This department of the University of Peshawar was established in 1985. It offers a two-year postgraduate degree for those interested in designing a new media strategy for the state and society keeping in view the ever-changing social fabric. Qualified students can later establish careers in the fields of newspapers, news agencies, magazines, journals; radio and TV broadcasting; public dealing in the government, NGOs, advertising agencies, business firms and managerial responsibilities in media organizations, especially at production and control levels. This website showcases the university's newsletter, and a campus radio studio which is the first of its kind in South Asia. A media directory of Pakistani print and electronic media websites, and a list of Pakistani universities are also available at this site. (http://www.jmc.sdnpk.org)

Prof. Dr. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Gilani, Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar and Mr. Gunter Lehrke, Resident Representative Friedrich Ebert Stiftung were also present on the occasion.
